The 2025 World Darts Championship has come to an end with Luke Littler crowned the winner following his impressive win over Michael van Gerwen on Friday.

Littler, 17, becomes the youngest ever champion, with The Nuke moving a step further from his second place finish to Luke Humphries last year.

How has the World Darts Championship prize money grown?

After splitting in darts, Dennis Priestley won his first PDC World Darts Championship in 1994 and claimed the £16,000 top prize for beating Phil Taylor at the famous Circus Tavern.

The jackpot actually dropped the following year to just £12,000, won by Taylor, and fluctuated in the following years, but eventually rose to £100,000 in 2006.

There have been big jumps since then, jumping to £200,000 in 2010, £300,000 in 2016, then increasing to the current figure of £500,000 in 2019.

Before the PDC (formerly WDC) came into existence, the BDO World Championship crowned the undisputed world champion, beginning in 1978 when Leighton Rees won £3,000 for his victory.

The 1993 BDO World Championship, the last before the split, saw John Lowe win £30,000 thanks to his victory over Alan Wariner in the final at Lakeside.
