How to watch

What do you know?

We have another exciting American sports matchup on schedule, as the Memphis Tigers and North Texas Mean Green are scheduled to tip off at 5:00 PM ET on Sunday at FedExForum. The Tigers have been dropping the ball lately as they have increased their point totals in each of their last three games.

Memphis will face North Texas after failing to over or under their set projection on Thursday which, to be fair, was 163.5 points. Memphis couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 90-62 defeat it received against FAU. The oddsmakers were on the Tigers’ side, but didn’t give the team enough credit because the margin was unexpectedly wide.

Several players had strong performances to lead Memphis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dane Daenga, who went 7 for 12 points en route to 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player who made a difference was Tyrese Hunter, who went 8-for-14 en route to 20 points plus seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, North Texas has already won three straight (a stretch in which they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and advanced to a fourth win on Tuesday. They outscored the Blazers 78-75 thanks to a jump shot from Atin Wright with just one second left in the second quarter. The win was even more impressive considering the Mean Green trailed by 18 points with 0:38 remaining in the first half.

North Texas can attribute much of its success to Wright, who scored 22 points plus two steals, and Latrell Gossel, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points plus four steals. Gossel had some trouble finding his footing against the Houston CHR. Two weeks ago, so that was a good turnaround.

Despite their win, North Texas struggled to work together and finished the game with just seven assists. This is the fewest assists they have posted since January 2024.

Memphis raised its record to 11-3 with its fourth straight road win. As for North Texas, they’ve been on a roll lately: They’ve won seven of their last nine contests, providing a nice boost to their 10-3 record this season.

Sunday’s game looks like an up-and-down game: Memphis has crashed the glass this season, averaging 36.4 rebounds per game. It’s a different story for North Texas, where they average just 32.6. Given the huge advantage Memphis has in this area, North Texas will need to find a way to close that gap.

Memphis fell short to North Texas in their previous meeting in February 2024, losing 76-66. Will Memphis have more luck at home instead of on the road?
