A group of very subordinate exemptions was presented to President Donald Trump’s tariff by 125 percent in China late Friday night, and it provides some clarity about the place where things are heading.
Specifically, the Journal of Customs and Borders Absolute A bulletin excludes smartphones, computers, computer spare parts, processors and other electronics from mutual definitions.

There are two sides for this. It removes some influence from the White House in an attempt to pressure China in a single -side deal, given that these products are some of the most profitable exports of the Communist nation. On the other hand, this relieves what could have been one of the largest pain points for Americans, these definitions remained in place, and political capital issues in a battle like this.
What does this mean? I think it indicates that we are looking for a settlement deal where the two sides can demand a victory compared to something that resembles a chapter on China for national security reasons. How details look like this, we will have to wait to find out.
If this is a good step or not, I have no strong opinion about it. I think separating China is a goal worth, but there are also great red flags regarding the economy and bond markets. Memories and palaces aside, if we do not have a hand to play now, After that, the best step is to try to secure victory and look in the long run, perhaps through capital investments to give companies the opportunity to gradually leave China.
I know that some people feel crazy when you say that, but logistical services and electronics manufacturing costs in the United States not only work in most of them, so American companies need time to transfer supply and manufacturing lines to low -cost alternatives. These India or some Southeast Asian countries can be, with which we are expected to secure very friendly commercial deals.
In short, if the Trump administration does not feel that this is the time to go in China, I can’t make them wrong with that. American consumers are not just numbers on a piece of paper. They are real people, and they are strategists to reduce the damage to them and the broader economy is good and not bad. If people want to describe it as Trump “changes his opinion”, then it would be. It really doesn’t matter. Just do what is more logical.
