Senate 2026 map begins to crystallize
The next battle for the majority in the Senate has become a clearer focus in recent weeks, as the candidates on both parties have made their intentions known in prominent races on the map.
As Bridget Bowman, Democrats face a hard rise to control the room in the 2026 elections: The party must reach the Republican Party area of the net four seats they need, while defending competitive seats in Georgia, Michigan and New Hampsheer. Meanwhile, Republicans are looking to expand a 53-47 majority with the defense of Maine and Battleground Blue in North Carolina.
Here is the latest in who is in who is outside who still needs to make a decision in the Senate competitions at the session.
Michigan: The latest piece of the puzzle fell in place on Monday, as former MP Mike Rogers became the first head to jump to the Senate race in Michigan. The approvals of the majority leader of the Senate John Thun and Chairman of the National Committee of the Republican Federation Tim Scott were found. Rogers lost to Democrat Elisa Slutkin in the Senate race last year with less than a percentage.
On the democratic side, Mallory McMorrow entered the race to replace retired Senator Gary Peters last week. Many other Democrats, including Representative Haley Stevens and the former director of Win County in Win Abdel Hadid, are bidding.
New Hampshire: Chris Sonono, former Republican Party, New Hampshire, announced last week that he would not nominate the Senate, despite President Donald Trump’s encouragement. Senator Scott Brown weighs in the former Massachusetts an offer in the state, losing a Senate race for the year 2014.
Democratic Representative Chris Papas launched his campaign in the Senate last week, and his colleague, MP Maggie Godlander, is also considering running by Senator Jean Shaheen.
North Carolina: while Former deputy Waili Nickel announced last week that he would face Republican Senator Tom Telese, the Democrats are waiting for former state governor Roy Cooper to report whether he would run one of the party’s goals next year.
who: It is a similar story to the party in Maine, with Democrat Janet Mills not excluding a campaign against Senator, Republican Party Susan Collins. The Democrats struggled to defeat Collins even when they constantly carried Maine at the presidential level.
Georgia: On the same way, The Republican Party is awaiting a large shoe to bring it down in Georgia. National Republicans recruited the ruler Brian Kemp to run against Democratic Senator John Osov, one of their higher goals on the map. If he does not, it is possible that the gates will open to the Republicans to enter the competition.

Commitment to the house: We can see more campaign ads about the two -week congressional holidays, as legislators return in their states and provinces.
Alexandra Marquise stated that the Republicans are largely avoiding holding the personal city halls during this period, and Richard Hudson, head of the National Republican Congress Committee, advised. According to the news data and the notices of the events that were published to the public, the majority of the city’s halls and events, similar to the city hall that takes place during the rest of Congress, will be hosted by Democrats.
Youth Movement: In addition to the battlefield races, there is also activity in the democratic primaries amid dissatisfaction with al -Qaeda during the direction of the party. Faiith Wardwell and Elias Miller writes that a crop of candidates in the twenties and thirties intervene to challenge the oldest Democrats for their seats in Congress.
An increasing number of Republicans contradict the Maga movement
Written by Bin Kamisar
The latest polling from NBC News explains how President Donald Trump has strengthened the Republican Party not only about itself, but also about the movement “making America great again.”
Thirty -six percent of the registered voters themselves set as supporters of Maga in the NBC News survey conducted in March. It is a significant increase in the past voting – an increase of 23 % of the respondents in a built -in sample of all voting from NBC News throughout 2023, and 27 % of the respondents in a built -in sample of 2024 polls.
The total share is supported by 71 % of Republicans who now call themselves the supporters of Maga.
NBC News has already shown signs of a transformation between the beginning of the 2024 presidential primaries and the last weeks before the election day, as the Republican Party has been unified around Trump. In January 2024, days after Trump won the nomination competitions in Iowa and New Hampsheer, only 20 % of the registered voters said they were in line with the Maga movement. But in the joint voting of NBC News in October and early November 2024, this number reached 29 %.
The transformation between Republicans who move more to the Trump camp leads this movement in the first place, with a 16 -point increase in GoPers that determined with Maga between the two opinion polls before the 2024 elections (55 %) and March this year (71 %). There was also a similar transformation between college educated men, from 21 % in 2024 to 37 % in March-also an increase of 16 points.
It is a kind of pro -Trump’s monotheism that caused the best approval classification (47 %) in the NBC News’ March poll, although the majority of registered voters, 51 %, are still refusing its job performance.
“All this transformation comes from Republicans,” said Bill McCainerf, a Republican reconnaissance expert in public opinion strategies who conducted the poll, as well as a democratic opinion poll Jeff Hurit from Hart Research Research.
