Colds may be β€œcommon,” but that doesn’t mean you can’t be absolutely miserable when you get them. Your symptoms may include a stuffy nose, itchy throat, endless sneezing, cough, and muscle aches. If you’re looking to avoid over-the-counter medications or are between doses, there are some home remedies you can utilize.

Create a steam bath

One of the best ways to clear your sinuses is a steam shower. Run the shower using the hottest water possible. Place a towel under the door as well. Your bathroom will get very steamy, and you’ll need to take deep, cleansing breaths. It will help loosen phlegm in your throat and mucus in your nose.

Use a humidifier or cool mist vaporizer

There are some things you can drink, which include plenty of water to stay hydrated. You should strive to get about 8 ounces of water (at least) every two hours. You can also try drinking ginger tea plus a teaspoon of honey to any type of tea or hot water.

Make a rice packet

The rice pack will make it easier to apply heat to your sinuses, which can relieve a lot of pressure. Get a tube sock and some rice. Fill a clean sock about 2/3 of its height with dry rice. Sew or tie the end closed. Heat the bag of rice in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until it reaches the appropriate temperature. Leave it on your nose and cheeks for 10 to 15 minutes.

Take a scented bath

A warm bath can help relieve cold symptoms. Add a little Epsom salt and baking soda so you can give your muscles some relief. Citrus or lavender will also help with the ability to relax.
