- Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim may skip the US at launch
- The leaks say that he will not come to the United States, but they did not reveal the reason
- Similar to how the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold SE also surpassed many areas
After we already had to prepare ourselves because the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will likely not be launched at Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event alongside the regular Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra – instead, leaks say it will launch in May. Almost – now it seems that the Slim may not even reach all markets: especially skipping the US if we believe the leaks.
The first comes via reputable guide Evan Blass who took it upon himself His X account To note that the S25 Slim “will definitely not be offered through US carriers.” Telephone square Following up on a report from a “historically reliable source” who reached out to tell them that although the S25 Slim will be coming to 39 markets, the US won’t be among them – whatever the UK and Australia are.
All leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt – especially the Phone Arena leak where we can’t name or verify the source of the information’s claim – but this wouldn’t be Samsung’s first ‘thin’ device to feature a limited edition release in recent years.
An example of this is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim, which ended up being called the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE (Special Edition), which was only released in South Korea and China when it arrived last year. The S25 Slim appears to have a slightly wider bezel, but again not as wide as Samsung’s flagships.
The only question left for us to ask is why, specifically, will it bypass the United States? Since Samsung’s home market is South Korea, it makes sense that it might limit some releases to just one market, or South Korea and a handful of neighboring Asian regions as we saw with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 SE. However, if it launches more widely, skipping the US – the third largest smartphone market after India and China – seems strange.
The only justification we can think of is that Samsung is concerned about potential US tariffs that incoming President Trump has threatened to impose on various US imports – especially those coming from China where a lot of smartphones are manufactured. If Samsung is planning to produce the S25 Slim in a region where Trump imposes tariffs on imports, it may decide that launching the phone in the US would not be feasible, so while we wait and see exactly what Trump’s plans might be, Samsung might take the route of reducing… Promising and over-delivering if definitions are not as effective as expected.
Slim by any other name would be just as slim
In addition to borrowing its Limited Edition, the S25 Slim may also copy the name of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Slim – i.e. not be called a Slim. This is according to Blass who in A Separate function We wondered why we expected the so-called Galaxy S25 Slim to be labeled as such while the Z Fold 6 Slim was not.
That’s not to say the S25 Slim won’t be a slim device – with a leak proof Digital chat station On Weibo it says that the thickness of the rumored slim iPhone 17 Air will be around 5-6mm. Compared to the iPhone 16 it’s 7.8mm thick (read our iPhone 16 review) and 7.6mm for the Samsung Galaxy S24 – but a name that doesn’t focus on it Simply being thinner could mean it will come with some additional hardware changes and upgrades over the course of the year. Basic model.
Such an upgrade has already been teased due to rumors suggesting that it will feature a 200-megapixel main camera instead of the expected 50-megapixel of the base Galaxy S25 smartphone.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see what Samsung has up its sleeve for the S25 Slim, but if you’re in the US and you probably don’t want to hold your breath, you’ll be able to get your hands on it in 2025.
