If the name Dan Goldman doesn’t ring any bells, don’t worry. This writer had to remind himself who else he is (he’s a Democratic congressman from New York, FYI).
Twitchy has written about him in the past: He was one of those Democrats who swore that Joe Biden would not pardon his son Hunter. Sorry. He also worries that Donald Trump will seek a third term, which is unconstitutional and will never happen.
But presidential term limits aren’t the only part of the Constitution that Rep. Goldman doesn’t understand. It really needs a First Amendment refresher too:
Meta’s decision to stop content moderation is not supported by the First Amendment.
But it represents a threat to our democracy and a dangerous surrender to an authoritarian president.

Or what?
Yes he does.
This is it Congressman Who believes that social media censorship is somehow consistent with the First Amendment. That’s some serious stuff right there.
Or am I confused… Do you understand what the First Amendment is? Let me help..
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people…

Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook is censored At the request of the federal government.
This is a violation of the First Amendment. The left has no right to circumvent the Constitution by using private companies to enforce censorship.
Only censorship can save freedom of expression or something like that.

“Democracy dies in darkness.”
Goldman is out there vying for the title of dumbest member of Congress (it’s a very competitive category).

It’s really very competitive.
Fact Checking: Meta’s decision to discontinue “fact checking” with its partners is fully supported by the First Amendment.
Fact Check #2: Stopping this “fact checking” is not a threat to our democracy, nor is it a surrender to anything but the fact that their “fact checking” was bad.

All this.
Freedom of expression is a threat to our democracy?? https://t.co/HBfSi0l8q7

In fact, Democrats think so, yes.
Nebo, a Russian kid who bought a seat in Congress with his grandparents’ money, says Meta is wanted under the First Amendment for censoring conservatives on the Internet. https://t.co/3AxSB8Wj8G

Sums it up well.
Democrats. 🙄
I don’t know of any group of people who work harder to try to get around the constitutional ban on seizing power than Democratic politicians. no one. https://t.co/Fi2lq1Id1U

While they scream Trump is an authoritarian.
Hello, projection.
Dan Goldman falsely claims that the Biden administration has not censored speech. And that’s pretty much all it did in terms of vaccine mandates, lab infusions and more. Social media companies forced to kill debate. Dan is blatantly misleading. https://t.co/VhVXqWxwmZ
— Vinay Prasad MDMPH (@VPrasadMDMPH) January 10, 2025
He’s not misleading. He knows exactly What does he say? exactly What he stands for.
The fact that Rep. Levi Gaines (D, N.Y.), who has a bachelor’s degree from Yale and a J.D. from Stanford, believes that the First Amendment in any way mandates Facebook’s content moderation methods would undoubtedly be an embarrassment to both institutions if they have any dignity. . Narrator: They have no dignity left.
“We have to abridge the First Amendment to save it. We have to restrict free speech to truly free it.”
What a bunch of tyrannical little commissioners. https://t.co/pxiVJZtUF2

Tyrants, everyone.
