The quantum magnetic navigation system was tested to direct a plane – and outperform the standard backup systems on which the aircraft depends when GPS signals are disturbed.

GPS and other global satellite systems use radio signals between space and Earth. But these radio waves are relatively weak and are vulnerable to deliberate confusion, as we saw in 2024 when GPS was affected and the Atlantic flights are inhibited. Now, GPS backup systems have become of increasing importance as aircraft face navigational challenges.
