Shams al-Din Jabbar was working alone when he carried out the New Orleans New Year’s Day attack that killed 15 people and wounded 30 others, the FBI said today at a news conference. “We do not believe at this point that anyone else was involved in this attack other than Shamsuddin Jabbar, which is the matter that you have already been briefed on,” said Christopher Raya, deputy assistant counterterrorism officer at the office. The FBI is investigating the incident as an act of terrorism. Jabbar, 42, is believed to have driven a pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street, and the main focus of the investigation is whether the attack was planned or inspired by a foreign terrorist group.
