San Diego FC, the Legue Soccer Football Club, says they will take action to stop the gay cheering after Mexican football disturbed its first match ever.

San Diego tied 0-0 at home to St. Louis City FC at Snapdragon Stadium on Saturday, but one word chant was heard several times throughout the match.

The national team of Mexico has been fined several times by FIFA due to the same chanting, which was also a problem in the Mexican club games.

The club published messages during a warning game from supporters that the chants were “offensive” and added that “discrimination has no place in our sport and in our stadiums and will not be tolerated with it.”

On Monday, the club issued a statement saying that they will take measures to deal with the problem.

The club said: “What happened during our first match at all does not reflect from the club or the values that we offer. Football brings together people together and in San Diego this comprehensive spirit flourishes.”

“The use of homosexuality in our stadium is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. San Diego FC is based on respect and belief that football is for everyone.

They concluded that “we are committed to strengthening an environment as all fans, players and employees feel safe and welcome. We will take immediate steps to address this behavior and we will transfer a detailed plan before the next home match.”

Coach Micky Farras said that the chants did not come from the organized supporters of the supporters, but the fans in other places of the ground.

“This came from more than the general population in the seats, and not everyone,” Faras told reporters after the match.

“I understand that, but there was enough people, and I just want to make it clear that he has no place here. If they would continue to reach the game and make this chant, it is better that they do not come here.”
