The competition announced on Thursday in 2025 of the 2025 leagues championship, which will return this summer with a variable coordination for the group and the knockout, along with more guaranteed matches between MLS and Liga MX.

Based on July 29 with all Liga MX teams, 18 and 18 MLS, the tournament, which hosted it again in the United States and Canada, now includes a group stage “the first stage” that will participate in three games against teams from the teams of the opposite league.

The groups are determined by the classifications that are placed through the offers of Liga MX and MLS teams in 2024 regular seasonal matches.

Another San Diego FC will be ranked in MLS since the expansion team has not started playing in the league.

After playing three games for each of them in the first stage, the first four teams will move the best performance from Liga MX and MLS to the one -round stage, where they will be placed in a fixed arc with pairs between the league.

According to the League Championship Cup, ensuring MLS clashes against Liga MX in the first stage, and the quarter -finals will mean that at least 58 of the competition matches will be between the league.

The tournament game will be played on August 31, with the final candidates, as well as the winner of the third place match, and won a place in the Concacaf 2026 Champions Cup.

Earlier this week, MLS confirmed that only 18 teams will participate in the championship, unlike the total league that participated in the previous two. MLS participants were identified this year by the best nine clubs from each conference last season.

San Diego was replaced by Vancouver, who ranked eighth in the Western Conference, because of their involvement in the CONCACAF Champions League and the Canadian Championship in 2025.

According to MLS, San Diego allowed “all 30 MLS teams to compete in at least one competition, but not more than the North American Cup competitions.”

No breaks will be taken in a regular season for the normal season for Liga MX or MLS during the tournament round.
