NBA star LeBron James has sent his prayers to people caught up in a vehicle ramming incident in the British city of Liverpool on Monday.
“OMG!!!! WTH. My deepest thoughts and prayers goes out to everyone affected that attended @LFC Premiere League trophy parade today! Such a senseless act!” James wrote on X, formerly Twitter. James is a minor partner of Fenway Sports Group, which owns Liverpool Football Club.
The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. on Monday evening in Walter Street in the heart of the city center as fans were celebrating Liverpool’s Premier League victory. A total of 47 people were injured in the incident, including children.

A 53-year-old man, thought to be the driver, was arrested at the scene, with police saying the crash was not being investigated as an act of terrorism.
Liverpool Football Club said they were working with Merseyside Police, adding: “Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident.”
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “Everyone, especially children, should be able to celebrate their heroes without this horror. The city has a long and proud history of coming together through difficult times. Liverpool stands together and the whole country stands with Liverpool.”
The club has a tragic history after 96 of its fans were crushed to death during overcrowding at Hillsborough Stadium in 1989.
