Kirsty Gallacher has left her fans stunned after sharing pictures of her children walking across a frozen lake.
The former Sky Sports host, 48, shared a series of snaps on her Instagram page of a family walk she took with her children and boyfriend Darren Clayton.
Among the chilling photos which also show the family dogs enjoying the scenic walk, one snap caused concern among Kirsty’s 401,000 followers.
One photo shows two children on a frozen lake, one crawling toward a red ball and the other walking on the ice.
Clayton and one of the puppies can be seen watching the children, with some criticizing the situation as showing a “lack of intelligence” due to the dangers.
Royal Life Saving Society It states that frozen ponds and lakes may appear firmer than they actually are, and the ice can easily crack under the weight of a person.

Furthermore, the shock of cold water if the ice breaks can cause sudden loss of consciousness and increase the risk of hypothermia.
Kirsty wrote in the caption: “Nothing better…walking, kids (except Oscar unfortunately) dogs and nature ❤️.”
Fans were quick to leave comments warning the broadcaster of the dangers of walking on frozen bodies of water.
Walker.deryck wrote: “Isn’t it dangerous to crawl on frozen water!” “Come on, Kirsty, tell them not to do that.”
Kirsty replied that the water was “pretty shallow” and there was no need to worry.
Charlotte Rialsig added: “It’s very dangerous to walk on ice on water. If they get cold shock and the logistics it means they won’t get out and you won’t be able to help either.”

“Lovely @gallacherkirsty but please tell me the freezing water was just a very shallow amount of water and not a puddle. It’s very dangerous to walk on ice. Sorry for being a stater nanny,” Votielvis wrote.
Jackscheit added: “Every year sad people die and drown in icy puddles while trying to get things for their dogs – completely astonished at the lack of intelligence of intelligent beings.”
However, others defended Kirsty and said it was “clearly a big operation”.
User _markbeeton pointed out: “One can’t kill joy but where is the common sense here?” Shallow or not, it’s not the best idea or example to set.
Crazyn98 agreed, writing: “I understand what you’re saying that this is superficial and therefore not dangerous, but I have to say this, posting it on social media is highly irresponsible.”

“It might put the idea in someone’s head that it’s okay to do this, and that where they choose to go and stand on the ice may not be as sketchy,” they continued.
“We had a terrible tragedy locally with the boys of Babs Mill in December 2022 where 4 young boys lost their lives by falling on the ice of a frozen lake.”
Kirsty shares children Oscar, 18, and Jude, 14, with her ex-husband Paul Sampson, from whom she separated in 2015.
She started dating Darren in 2023, saying that being single parents helped them fall in love.
