Care Starmer announced that the British foreign aid budget should be reduced to pay the price of a large batch of defense spending.

The Prime Minister told the House of Commons that the government would reach its goal in spending 2.5 % of GDP (GDP) on defense by 2027 – three years before the plan.

This means that 13.4 billion pounds per year will be spent on defense – the largest batch in the military budget since the Cold War.

This comes after Donald Trump indicated that America no longer provides military protection for Europe and against the background of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Starmer said that the amount spent on international aid will be reduced from 0.5 % to 0.3 % to pay for it.

The Prime Minister said: “This is not a declaration that I am happy to issue. I am proud of our foreign development record.

“In such times, the defense and the security of the British people must always come first – this is the first priority of this government.”

The Prime Minister MPS also told that “economic conditions” will increase the United Kingdom from its defensive spending to 3 % of GDP after the upcoming general elections.
