American rapper Gaius Guevara He shared a new song titled “The Old Guard Is Dead.”
The wordsmith took London by storm at the end of December, playing a packed show at lively independent venue George Tavern. As part of a special promotion for Fat Possum, Ghais will release his debut album through the label this month.
“Goyard Ben Said,” a film that is conceptual in tone and personal in execution, will be released on January 24. The new song “The Old Guard Is Dead” taken from the LP is an example of how powerful and brilliant Guias Guevara’s art is.
Rounding out the tone, the track has a minimalist feel, with subtle lyricism that showcases Gayce’s control over his rap flows. He comments…
“Restriction always breeds innovation and this song is an example of that. The lack of sample options at my disposal forced me to work with unfamiliar songs, sounds and flows. The result is me and my navy storming the dock, and the citizens looking on in fear because they know we’re not leaving.”
