Social media users claim that Assad will return to work as a doctor, and plans to establish an eye clinic in Russia. One user wrote: “Dr. Al-Assad will return to ophthalmology after his ouster as president of Syria, and intends to establish an eye clinic in Russia.
There is no evidence for this claim. If he had been looking to re-establish his path to becoming a doctor, the media would have covered it, but none did. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov nbc news, “I have no idea what’s going on with him now.”
Assad issued a statement on his Telegram channel in which he claimed he had no intention of stepping down and continuing the fight, according to Oregon Public Radio.
