Starlink can now access the ELON Musk’s Spacex, via the White House campus. This is the latest Wi-Fi network installation throughout the government since Mr. Musk joined the Trump administration as an unpaid consultant.

It was not immediately clear when the White House complex was provided with Starlink after President Trump took office for a second term.

Starlink stations can be placed, rectangular panels that receive internet signals from SpaceX moons in low -Earth orbit, on physical structures. But instead of placing it physically in the White House, it is now said that Starlink is directed through the White House Data Center, with the existing fiber cables, from the complex.

White House officials said the installation was an attempt to increase the availability of the Internet in the complex. They said that some property areas cannot get cell service and that the infrastructure in the Wi-Fi network has been overlooked.

“The voltage is to improve the Wi-Fi connection on the complex.”

But the circumstances are different from any previous position to solve internet services. Mr. Musk, who is now a non -paid consultant working as a “private government employee” at the White House, controls Starlink and other companies that have organizational issues before or contracting with the federal government. Questions about his conflicting commercial interests continued with his position as a presidential consultant and the main Trump donor for weeks.

In February, Chris Stanley, who is currently working as a security engineer in Mr. Musk companies, Spacex and the X social media platform, went to the roof of the Eisenhower executive offices at the White House complex to explore Starlink’s installation there. Mr. Stanley also works with the Ministry of Governmental Efficiency for Mr. Musk as a private government employee.

When Mr. Stanley opened a door that leads to the roof of the building, which is located directly compared to the entrance to the White House, he found an alert that the secret service was alerted to its presence. He created a dramatic scene where an officer wearing the uniform of the response rushed, according to four people familiar with the accident.

A fifth person in the event of the event said that Mr. Stanley had previously told him by the Secret Service that he could check the ceiling, but the agency did not coordinate the time of Mr. Stanley.

The White House spokesman Harrison Fields said that the White House “was aware of Dog’s intentions to improve access to the Internet on the campus” and that “this was not considered a security incident or a security breach.”

Anthony Julielmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said he was not considered a breach or a security incident.

White House officials said Starlink was “donated” to service and that the gift was examined by the lawyer overseeing ethics cases in the White House Advisor’s office.

Some former officials were not clear on how such a donation was made.

Claire Martoraana, a former White House chief information official during the Biden administration, said that people can not usually give technology to the government. She said that the chief information employee in the White House will need to sign a new system to ensure that it is properly secured, as well as information officials in the Public Services Department.

Mr. Stanley worked to create the new Starlink system in coordination with the White House Internet Technology Office, a consultant while he was also assigned to work in the Ministry of Justice, one of the persons familiar with this issue said.

The White House is the latest governmental property that Starlink is working on now.

In recent weeks, Starlink has also been created in the Public Services Department, which was a center for Mr. Musk’s efforts to the government, according to documents and persons familiar with the service.

Although many federal agencies contract with Starlink, satellite service is usually used to provide internet access in emergency and distant sites – not in federal buildings in Washington, which already has ample internet options.

Starlink is generally seen as a reliable network. In October, the Federal Emergency Management Agency contracted with Starlink to distribute stations to service throughout North Carolina after Hurricane Helen hit the state. The service was also decisive to Ukraine’s defenses against Russia, as the Ministry of Defense SPACEX estimated that it cost $ 400 million to support effort over the period of 12 months around 2022.

However, it is unclear that the Internet service will expand the wireless internet capacity in the buildings where fiber cables already provide them already.

It was also not clear whether Starlink Etisalat was encrypted. As a minimum, the system allows a separate network from existing White House servers that people on the ground can use, while maintaining this separate data.

“It is extremely rare,” said Starlink or another internet provider as an alternative to the current government infrastructure that has been examined and secured. “I can’t think about a time I heard about it.”

Mr. Williams said: “He offers another attack point,” said Mr. Williams. “But why is this danger?”

One of the officials who have knowledge of the stability of Starlink at the White House, which was not allowed to speak publicly, said that the secret service was concerned that Starlink may be activated through the safe solid wires in the White House used by the Secret Service, as well as other federal agencies. The fact that the Internet service is now working through a different data center that seems to have treated this anxiety.

In Public Services Management, where the use of Starlink was I mentioned earlier by NBC NewsThe service has been added to the applications list approved to download on the agency’s mobile devices. This list also includes applications for two other companies led by Musk, X and Tesla, according to the documents in the New York Times.

“Only the applications that meet the security and privacy standards in GSA,” an agency spokesman said in a statement. The agency refused to comment on its use of Starlink.

Mr. Musk expressed his frustration with what is seen as an outdated technique in the government and hit him in an effort to update it.

Shortly after Mr. Trump’s performance, Mr. Musk complained that a digital system known as Waves, which allows secret service to agree to guests to enter the White House land, was Clunky. Some White House officials shared this evaluation. Mr. Musk instructed Mr. Stanley to repair it, according to two people who were briefed on this.

Mr. Goulilmi, a spokesman for the Secret Service, said that the agency “is closely cooperating with” Mr. Musk team and has continuous discussions. At this time, he added: “No formal changes have been made on the accessories of visitors at the White House.”
