RuPaul’s Drag Race star The Vivienne was remembered at a vigil in their home city of Liverpool on Sunday night.

James Lee Williams, originally from Colwyn Bay in the north WalesHe died on January 5 at the age of 32.

Hundreds of fans and friends of The Vivienne gathered at LiverpoolSt George’s Hall.

Buildings across the city were lit up green to commemorate the drag queen and her role as the Wicked Witch of the West in the musical The Wizard of Oz.

His colleague, Danny Byrd, said the vigil was “a celebration of someone who touched the lives of so many.”

They added: “Vivian was one of the most famous actresses in the world and a world-class artist.”

“Above all, a shining beacon in all of our lives and especially for the LGBT community.”

Since The Vivienne first came to prominence in 2019, she has appeared in a number of TV shows, including Blankety Blank on The Vivienne. Christmas a period.

In a tribute issued after Mr Williams’ death, a Dancing On Ice spokesperson said they were “deeply saddened” by the news.

They said Mr Williams made “TV history with their pioneering and remarkable skating partnership”, becoming the first drag act to reach the final of Dancing On Ice.
