World News Live Updates: Wildfires force over 25,000 evacuations across Canada as smoke spreads into US

Wildfires in Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan have forced more than 25,000 residents to evacuate, with 17,000 alone from Manitoba, now under a state of emergency.

Smoke is worsening air quality across Canada and several US states. Firefighters from other provinces and US states, including Oregon and Alaska, are helping.

Indigenous leaders in Manitoba say evacuees are overcrowding shelters and hotels. Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe warned the next week is “critical” as crews wait for rain and cooler weather.
